**Update** We've moved this event to Sunday, April 14th due to a nearby campaign rally which will result in road closures around the theater. Online ticketing will resume shortly!
We'll be celebrating our historic milestone anniversary in style on Sunday, April 14, with an all-out birthday extravaganza for the theater!
Shankweiler's Drive-In Theatre first opened on April 15, 1934, making it the second drive-in theater ever built and the oldest continuously operating drive-in theater in the world!
Join us for a re-enactment display of the drive-in's earliest days. Often described as "a bedsheet hung between two poles," the drive-in initially began as a DIY venture behind Wilson Shankweiler's popular restaurant and inn (now inhabited by Hunsicker Funeral Home). The re-enactment will also feature period-specific vehicles provided by The NB Center of American Automotive Heritage in Allentown.
Gates will open at 5:00 PM for photo ops and activities, including magic from Mark Mysterrio and themed drinks by County Seat Spirits.
Our first feature will begin around 8:00pm.
8:00pm - Twister - PG13
10:00pm - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire - PG13
The theater is open rain or shine. No refunds or transfers unless an event is cancelled.
